Parent / Carer Helper Requirements

Our weekly competitions rely on the support of our families. To ensure events can run smoothly, one parent or carer from each family is required to assist each week.

There are a variety of helper roles available, and no previous experience is needed. Every role is straightforward, with guidance and support always available from our committee members.

Helper duties may include:

  • Age Manager - (WWCC required) – supervising your age group, coordinating athletes and helpers, and helping them move through their events.

  • Long Jump – raking the sand pit after each jump, spiking the sand where the athlete landed, measuring the length of the jump, recording the measurement on the Centre’s iPad.

  • Throws – measuring throws, retrieving the discus, javelin, or shot put, recording the measurement on the Centre’s iPad.

  • High Jump – raising the bar to the correct height as directed, replacing the bar when it is knocked off, recording the heights on the Centre’s iPad.

  • Start Marshal – organising athletes into the correct lanes at the start line and preparing the next heat.

  • Finish Marshal – ensuring athletes remain in their lanes after finishing and helping keep athletes, adults, and young children away from the timing gates for safety and to ensure accurate results.

These roles are essential to the successful running of our competition. With everyone contributing, we can provide a fun, safe, and enjoyable experience for all athletes each week.

Where should I place the rego patches on the uniform?

Can I drop my kids off?

No - A responsible adult must accompany the athletes to each competition, not only to ensure parent/carer helpers are available but for insurance as well.
